About the Role:
Marble is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Intern who is enthusiastic about learning and working with cutting-edge technology. As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience designing, assembling, and testing mechanical systems for high-tech automation applications. You’ll work with both our design and production departments to apply your knowledge to solve real-world challenges within our company.
You will also have the opportunity to work on your own project, developing and testing a new system component. You’ll have a good balance of guidance and flexibility. An experienced engineer will be nearby to help with problems, but aside from product requirements, the bulk of the project will be up to you. Additionally, you will gain firsthand insight into how a fast-paced startup operates and innovates in the food processing industry.
Responsibilities:
Design & Development: Create 3D models and detailed drawings for mechanical components and systems using CAD tools, SolidWorks, and AutoCAD.
Prototyping & Testing: Collaborate with the engineering team to fabricate, assemble, and test prototypes, ensuring they meet performance and safety standards.
Integration Support: Work with automation specialists to integrate mechanical systems with robotics, sensors, and control systems.
Documentation: Prepare technical drawings, assembly plans, and manuals.
Required Qualifications:
Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
Will have completed your junior year by Summer 2025
Experience with CAD software
Basic knowledge of mechanical principles and manufacturing processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team setting
Passion for automation, with a strong desire to learn about emerging technologies
Ability to travel to customer sites and to work in a meat processing environment
Job Type: Internship. 20-40 hours per week
Location: Lincoln, NE - US; occasional travel for in-person meetings and site visits.
