Marble is looking for a Machine Learning Engineer Intern who is enthusiastic about learning and working with cutting-edge technology. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work on your own project while playing a pivotal role in advancing our efforts in computer vision and deep learning. You’ll perform a blend of research and engineering work, exploring cutting-edge techniques in machine learning while also contributing to the maintenance and optimization of our MLOps pipelines. You will help push the machine learning team forward by optimizing internal processes and infrastructure. This internship provides a dynamic environment for learning, innovation, and impactful contributions to real-world applications.

You’ll have a good balance of guidance and flexibility. An experienced engineer will be nearby to help with problems, but aside from product requirements, the bulk of the project will be up to you. Additionally, you will gain firsthand insight into how a fast-paced startup operates and innovates in the food processing industry.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform R&D in areas related to the state-of-the-art in computer vision and deep learning (i.e. Vision Transformers, CNNs, etc)

  • Manage and maintain machine learning/ MLOps pipelines for deployed production models

  • Perform camera calibrations and image quality tests on production systems on the manufacturing floor

  • Communicate project findings and status updates within and across teams

  • Assist with addressing the machine learning team’s ongoing technical challenges as the company grows


Required Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a B.S. or M.S. degree in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline

  • Completed sophomore year

  • Experience developing and optimizing machine learning models, preferably in computer vision applications

  • Basic knowledge of machine learning and computer vision libraries such as Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and OpenCV is essential

  • Familiarity with computer vision algorithms and tasks such as image classification, segmentation, and object detection

  • Ability to effectively document work and communicate technical details to team members



Qualifications That Stand Out:

  • Currently a senior or graduating M.S. student seeking new opportunities

  • Experience with Docker, AWS cloud services, Nomad, and Consul

  • Familiarity with Git and the software development life cycle

  • Experience implementing image processing and image feature extraction algorithms

  • Experience with SQL

Job Type: Internship. 20-40 hours per week
Location: Cambridge, MA - US; occasional travel for in-person meetings and site visits.
