About the Role:
Marble is looking for a Summer 2025 Backend Developer Intern who is enthusiastic about learning and working with cutting-edge technology. At Marble, you will leverage cutting-edge technologies to help develop the next generation of automation for meat processing. This position offers guidance and a substantial growth opportunity within a team dedicated to innovation and excellence.
As an intern, you will support the development and maintenance of on-premise microservices and real-time communication services. This can include working with embedded systems, high-performance computer vision services, data services, and infrastructure as code. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to Marble’s technology stack while also growing your skills as a developer.
You’ll have a good balance of guidance and flexibility. An experienced developer will be nearby to help with problems, but the bulk of your projects will be up to you. Additionally, you will gain firsthand insight into how a fast-paced startup operates and innovates in the food processing industry.
Responsibilities:
Assist in developing and maintaining microservices
Interface with and manage databases
Assist in live system tests at Marble’s lab or customer sites, ensuring integration and performance standards
Maintain Marble’s messaging infrastructure
Learn and adhere to best practices in coding, testing, and deployment within a team environment
Required Qualifications:
Pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science or a related engineering discipline
A senior graduating in May, August, or December 2025
Basic understanding C/C++, Python, or Golang
Basic understanding of databases such as MongoDB or Postgres
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
Familiarity with any of the following: gRPC, NATS, MongoDB, InfluxDB, New Relic, Nomad, Consul, Vault, Terraform
Job Type: Internship. 20-40 hours per week
Location: Lincoln, NE - US; occasional travel for in-person meetings and site visits.
